Many of you know that I blogged in the past about my two dogs, Gixxer and Ninja.  I am sad to say that Ninja just passed away.  She was a wonderful Great Dane.  I had her for approximalty 10 ½ years.  Yes, you are reading correctly, she was that old for a Great Dane.  I got her in August 1998.  She lived a wonderful indoor life with her own full size bed. 

Unfortunately, my husband and I were not there when she passed away.  My husband was riding in the MS 150.  I got the news from my mother-in-law who happened to go by my home that afternoon to let my dogs out.  Ninja came out of the house in her gleeful way, went to the bathroom and had a heart attack.  I am so sad that she is gone but I am happy that she lived a full life.  Just to top things off, my other dog Gixxer was suffering from bladder stones.  So besides the loss of his best friend, he had to have surgery the next day on his bladder.  I love my dogs dearly.  Surprisingly, Gixxer has not been depressed over the death of his best friend but has actually become more lovable as a dog.  Seems strange to me but I will take all the love from an animal that I can get.

 You may wonder if I am going to quickly jump and purchase another Great Dane.  No, I am 7 months pregnant and will wait until the baby is at least 6 months old before I purchase one.  The are the most adoring dogs… everyone should have one.  Gixxer has fully recovered from his surgery and we could not be happier.  I will keep you posted as to when I purchase another Great Dane.
